We were established in 1978. It is our mission to promote literacy encompassing reading, writing, and speaking across the curriculum among students, educators, and parents. Directors work to complete this mission in several ways. One of these ways is to encourage schools to participate in Reading Awareness activities as part of Reading Across Aroostook week in April. Students create bookmarks and the winners are then published and shared throughout every school during this week.
